BBC micro:bit

BBC micro:bit - What's it all about?

The micro:bit is a handheld, fully programmable computer that was gifted for free to every Year 7 pupil or equivalent child across the UK.

"This little device has an awful lot of features, like 25 red LED lights that can flash messages. There are two programmable buttons that can be used to control games or pause and skip songs on a playlist. Your BBC micro:bit can detect motion and tell you which direction you’re heading in, and it can use a low energy Bluetooth connection to interact with other devices and the Internet – clever!"  https://www.microbit.co.uk/about

Now all the free devices have been distributed, the question is what next?

What's new

In July 2016 the BBC micro:bit becomes commercially available. This means schools and individuals can purchase the devices to use at home or in school. It also means Primary Schools, Colleges, Universities and your everyday hobbyist can start to explore and experiment with the BBC micro:bit.
