About the Series:

Microsoft is teaming up with education training specialist Tablet Academy to deliver a series of events aimed at supporting school leaders and classroom educators to further embed and benefit from the features provided by Microsoft tools. The focus of these events is to help institutions looking to develop both their in-class delivery and remote programmes.

Event Summary:

A view into how educators will need to consider the structure of a class team and create a safe space for secondary school students.

Type of Event: Webinar

A 1-hour Teams Live event with an unlimited number of participants. These events will include presentations and, where appropriate, live demonstrations, followed by 15-20 minutes of Q&A.

Session Overview:

An overview of how to effectively use the settings within Teams to create an environment that can be uniquely suited to your audience; by creating channels, setting up moderation of posts, best practices for assignments and scheduling meetings.

You should attend this webinar if you are looking at ways to create a class team environment that can be structured to suit a primary audience with their parents/guardians in mind.

This Webinar is aimed at school leaders, phase coordinators and teachers. Prior knowledge of working with the Microsoft Team environment is beneficial

Things to be aware of:

  • Collaboration
    • Encouraging appropriate collaboration – a key 21st-century skill.
    • Safeguards – muting students, disabling collaboration space in OneNote.
  • Meetings Settings
    • Appropriate use – important for Social and Emotional Learning.
    • Recording for follow up.
    • Safeguards – set students as attendees, should video be on/off? Use of backgrounds and the use of the lobby.
    • Students engagement – using polls, etc.
  • Asynchronous Opportunities
    • Record screen in Stream, record meetings in Teams, use Flipgrid moderated.
  • Chat
    • Appropriate use – peers support.
    • Use tools to monitor chat. 
    • Disabling for students.
